ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Four northwestern Pennsylvania police officers have been placed on administrative leave while county detectives and the FBI investigate the fatal shooting of a credit union robbery suspect.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook has identified the suspect at 30-year-old Dionne Jordan.
Police tell the Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/1dXPvGh) Jordan robbed the Widget Financial office about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and was found by police near a wooded area about 15 minutes later.
Police say they ordered Jordan to surrender and shot him when he instead refused to drop his gun, got out of his vehicle and faced off with police.
The FBI is involved because the credit union's accounts are federally insured.
County detectives routinely investigate city officer-involved shootings as a matter of protocol. The Erie Bureau of Police Office of Professional Standards is also investigating.
